Success? – its a trick
There is a ‘trick’ to succeeding.
Now the main thing, the one thing, the only thing required to succeed – is staying the course. Keeping on keeping on. Never quitting. Relentless progress, etc.
There’s no talent required to achieve a goal, just constant action towards the goal. That’s how we learned to talk, and to walk, and to use cutlery and all those other amazing truly amazing feats that we all consider normal.
Think about this – we all learned our native language at what – two years old? Yet now at twenty or thirty or whatever age we try to learn a new language – and -Its So Hard- I’m no good at languages, I have no talent for languages, its So Hard.
Imagine how it was when you didn’t have a language to start with? No reference points at all. In fact imagine how it was when you weren’t even sure what the ‘talking;’ thing was! That was hard. In fact almost impossible. But you/we did it. Because we didn’t think there was an option.Because it was just something we did. Your brain didnt have doubt or fear of failure or pride or shame or all those other thing we ‘learn’ – it just said ‘Do”
So here’s the “trick”: -
-do whatever you have to do to keep your brain believing there are no other options and the goal is achievable. Do whatever is necessary to believe (really believe) that the goal is in fact Done – just a matter now of putting in the work.
True story…
I was in a Networking business – (did ok thanks for asking) – one day when we were all young and struggling, we had a meeting with a great leader mentor (lets call him Zig). So Zig took one of my hard working affiliates aside and gave him a little notepad presentation (worked some things out on a notepad for him).
Within two years of that meeting -that affiliate went from struggling and doubtful to a millionaire.
Now his rival, who wasn’t usually motivated or a big believer in work, saw him moving to his goal, so he (the rival) for a brief 18 month period worked like crazy and became financially independent too.(and could never get the motivation to work like that again, by the way).
Now because the Rival, let call him Bob (as in bobs up and down with no forward motion – usually), because Bob , who everyone, everyone, even our great Leader thought would never make it, because Bob started moving -a bunch of us started moving – if he, I mean if he can do this. We were so convinced that if Bob was succeeding, nothing could stop us (the strivers, the non-Bobbers). And we could do it so much better – because, well, we didnt bob – we were hard chargers, hard chargers with a pocket full of excuses usually – but not now. When Bob moved – we all moved.
Now here’s the ‘joke’ in that story. When I later asked my downline affiliate what Zig said to reall inspire him -he said I dont know – I didnt understand what he was shopwing me.
‘You didnt understand? . And yet you suddenly went ballistic with work and became rich? When you didnt understand what he was telling you?”
“Yep” he said “Zig showed me this detailed plan about where I was and what I could logically achieve, step by step in two years, and it was great, bit I didnt really follow it” (Zig was a great believer in charts and graphs and logically steps and MS Excel).
“Ok” I said -”but you saw the steps and followed anyway”
“Well to be truthful” my affiliate said – “I didnt understand any of the steps, he confused me – but the One Thing I knew was that Zig believed it, believed I had the goal in my grasp, and it was just a matter of work – so I believed it. Absolutely, 100% convinced it was a done deal. I didnt understand the logic, but if Zig said it was so – it was so. So i did it.”
So all this momentum and success was created by a guy who didnt evr ‘get’ the plan but absolutely 100% ‘got’ the belief. So his brain was tricked for two years, until it became a reality.Fake it till you make it – indeed.
Its not the work, or the degree of difficulty or a special skill that stops us using our fail proof abilities, its us. We give up.Too soon
Its a ‘trick’
Get your brain convinced its a done deal except for the work – and you will succeed.
But how do you do the “trick’
All it takes…O wait that’s in the next post…
