Knowledge Doubling Curve and You
Buckminster Fuller’s “Knowledge Doubling Curve” can be summarized as follows;
The more we know, the faster we know more. Knowledge volume undergoes exponential growth, doubling and redoubling over time.
Up until the 1900 it was said that the accumulation of knowledge doubled every century.
At the end of World War 2 every 25 years.
Today – well anywhere from 1 to 1.5 years to – Nanotechnology they say every 2 years – Clinical knowledge every 18 months.
And IBM predicts that in the next couple of years, information will double every 11 hours!

How does one survive with this Knowledge Mountain building at impossible speeds before our eyes. What hope is there for the humble human?
Well in 1935 a gentleman by the name of Will Rogers said “If you want to be successful – its this simple; -
- Know what you are doing
- Love what you are doing
- And believe in what you are doing
That hasn’t changed
Our ‘knowledge’ about “effort’ and ‘hate’ and ‘love’ and ‘faith’ and ‘belief’ haven’t changed since…ever?
Napoleon Hill didn’t ‘invent’ the concept of ‘applied effort gets results’ or ‘Think and grow Rich’. He just wrote a book about it.
Norman Vincent Peale didn’t ‘invent’ the concept of ‘visualization’ or ‘ “you can if you think you can” – but they both brought some existing concepts – (after all you don’t ‘invent’ thought)- into a mass awareness.
In our everyday life it really doesn’t matter if they ever find the Higgs Boson particle or not – or whether there really are colored quarks or up and down quarks.
For me personally it would be nice if medicine would stop forgetting acquired knowledge from history and replacing it with machinery and technology – but that is the Western Way I guess.
The point is – ( a long elaborate point I grant you) – this ‘knowledge’ we keep gaining at inestimable rates doesn’t really affect how we make our journeys through life in a large sense.
If you want success – its effort and focus and a willingness to fail. A willingness to learn from the failures.
The Internet allows easier access to the entrepreneurial business craft. The Internet allows a low cost access to (almost) the entire world market. Something inconceivable 20 years ago. Now you can create a business model or campaign at home on a scrap of paper and then ‘sell’ it and ‘distribute it’ to The Developed World’s marketplace in an afternoon, from the comfort of a web page.
And most of all the Internet allows you to find Mentorship.Someone that has created a business like yours, and someone you can follow.A key to short cutting the biggest failure aspect of starting a business – ignorance of the marketplace you are in.
To create a successful business – Know what you are doing, Love what you are doing (not just the result) and believe in what you are doing (offer true value)
Its the Knowing that worries us. If everything is changing and knowledge is increasing and…
To ‘know ‘what you are doing, doesnt mean you need to ‘know’ whether the universe is expanding or contracting or its string theory or chaos theory ids the real key to life.
All you need to do is learn the ‘successful’ way to run YOUR particular business model.
You do that by experience ( and its always good if its someone else’s experience – its cheaper and faster). And second (to repeat from above) by following a Mentor.
Oh – And by actually DOING something.
We (or its it just me?) love and are bewildered by all the ‘information’ that is available on the Internet – the multitude of ways to create SEO programs or PPC programs or Clickbank Programs or….
The point of a business is to make money not learn every trick that’s every been done by every human on the planet.
So pick one method, proven method, genuine method, and do it till its works.
If it works but doesn’t have the ability to make the income you desire -pick another method.One method and do it till it works.
“Knowledge’ is a tricky word. In terms of lasting eternal life abilities, we forget more than we ever learn.
Whats new about what we know about Love?
Whats new about effort that wasnt known before?
Whats new about laziness and lying and cheating and graft and corruption that wasnt known?
Whats new about humility and forgiveness and human potential that wasnt known?
Whats new about offering true value to another and being rewarded for its worth?
If you want to be successful – learn ONE program and do it till it works. If you want more. Repeat.
