If you have to ask-answers for a budding entrepreneur
Things to keep in mind when asking questions about your new business opportunity/venture
1) There is no such thing as free (as in beer). As opposed to free (as in speech)
2) Everything costs – time, money, reputation, family, energy, truth, principals, beliefs – everything anywhere and everywhere always costs something.
3) In sales they use to say you could have it Fast, Good or Cheap – but you only get to pick two (good and cheap?). In real life you only get to pick one.
Ok we are ready – questions?…
Question: - How quickly will I be making money with this program (whatever the program is)
Answer - If you have to ask – dont even begin – see 1,2,3 above.
Business is not a TV program that starts at a certain time and finished at a certain time.It takes whatever time it takes depending on your ability, your effort, the uncertain marketplace, your belief in the uncertain marketplace. It takes whatever it takes. If you think its fixed time project to create a successful business…well maybe TV watching is for you
Question: – How much will it cost me (apart from the cost of the course or program).
Answer – See answer above (replace the word time with money) – and perhaps add – the word investment.
Question: - these are reasonable questions, I dont see the problem. I am merely trying to assess my risk.
Answer – Ah if only that were true. What we do when we ask these questions is to see how “little’ we can get away with.
To create from scratch a business you have never done before requires time and effort and dedication, and yes money , and most of all a belief that, if it is a proven model (make sure its a proven model – that is that it really works in the real world) – and someone else can do it – then you can do it.
Question: – The prospectus says I can make $100,000 in less than year. Guaranteed
Answer – Dont count on it.Keep the guarantee handy.
Question: – The prospectus shows all these smiling faces that say they made thousands of dollars in less than a month.
Answer: Maybe they did, and maybe they didnt. But what skills did they have to start. Where were they business wise to start. How much experience did they have to start. This is not a race. It doesn’t mean its a valid or invalid business – however -(see 3 above) if the business is selling itself as Fast, and Cheap – delete Good.
Maybe look for a prospectus that says if you follow the program it will work. And doesnt rely on selling you time limits or effort limits. (see 2 above).
In your business vehicle you are in competition with no-one but yourself. Success looks as good if it takes a year or three years or ten years
Question: – I want one of those businesses that are on auto-pilot, I set up the software, set up the web site and click ‘activate’ and I make money
Answer – Please send us that program we would all like to participate – (however see 1- 3 above )
Question: – well maybe I shouldnt try, theres too many ways to fail
Answer- there are many ways to fail. Life and business does not come with a safety neyt. They come with dreams and opportunity. But here is the Universal guarantee redeemable anywhere – to guarantee failutre – Do nothing.
Question:- I -
No more question today.
Time’s Up.
However remember this Guarantee: – in a free enterprise marketplace – as long as you never quit – you will succeed.
