Working Smart & Staying Focused
Distractions are a common obstacle for any entrepreneur, but the distractions that online entrepreneurs face are definitely unique. After all, the internet is a machine of diversions.
With one click you can go from working… to watching a video of a piano-playing cat.
When suffering from those moments of procrastination, I’ve found that it’s better to just get off the computer and go for a walk. Then return with a clear head and get back to work.
Some distractions aren’t so obvious. You may even feel like you’re getting things done, but you’re really just spinning your wheels.
Disguised distractions can be new marketing products, new keyword tools, market research strategies, etc… Sure these things can be good, but too much of it bogs you down if you’re not careful.
So don’t spend too much of your time learning “what’s new”, instead of taking action.
Here are a few tips on working smart and staying focused:
•Use a market research checklist to avoid over analyzing. Remember, over analysis leads to paralysis. Make a decision and take action.
•Remember the big picture. You are selling products or services, either directly or getting a commission for suggesting other people’s products or services.
•Pick a few keyword tools that you like and stick with them.
•Register a good domain name and create a website. Learn how to manage the website or hire someone to do it. You don’t have to be a techie, but it’s important to have a general understanding of how the ol’ Internet thingy works.
•Learn how to track conversions down to the keyword. Become a pro using specific tracking software, such as Tracking202.
•Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. When you have success selling a product, find more ways of bringing traffic to it. Have at least three sources of traffic to a profitable product.
Always ask yourself, “Am I doing something that will result in someone clicking a link that will in return make me money?”
Remember, every entrepreneur needs a game plan in order to stay focused. Start with the desired end result in mind. Make a road map that leads to your success. Then stick with it!
