EXTRACT
“This is not a book to induce you to join some particular MLM or Network Marketing organization
This guide will do two things for you:
1) Give you the information you need to choose the right Network Marketing Business for your work habits.
PLUS
2) A game plan for personal success is this or any business.
In my opinion, and the opinion of many highly successful entrepreneurs – the Network Marketing business model is one of the best model out there to leverage success.
(See for instance – The business of the 21st century Robert Kiyosaki , Contact Capital by Bob proctor, Prosumer Power by Bill Quain, Donald Trump’s –Trump Network, Household Gold by Steve W Price, Developing Leaders Around You by John Maxwell – to name a few off the top)
The trick is to know how to choose the right one for you
This guide will give you the information to make an informed decision.
A Little History
First there was franchising, where you could expand your business, your market, your geographic reach and at the same time benefit from another sales – without doing the actual work yourself. A brilliant idea
However it was touch and go whether the FTC would make it a legal enterprise, for although there was Howard Johnston and then Ray Kroc’s McDonalds, there was also a lot of ‘blue sky’ being sold. That is, area and franchise fees for businesses that would never exist. As with any new edgy idea, the fast talkers were there in droves.
In the end the more sensible businesses proved themselves and the FTC made Franchising within certain parameters a legal enterprise
Taking the idea forward another step there was in the late 1940’s Private Franchising, where a manufacturer would create a network of distributors (a free sales force) that they paid percentages of overall sales to, with each distributor being not just a salesperson, but also part of an income sharing network; Multi-Level Marketing.(MLM)
It started, after the Second World War, with a nutrition product from a company called Nutrilite. That venture eventually fell apart, with the distributor force going on to create Amway Corp. MLM. was also investigated by the FTC, who eventually decided it could be a legal business, if the MLM. followed (believe it or not) the Amway income distribution model.
Again a lot of blue sky is sold under the auspices of MLM, up to an including the present day. It doesn’t take any capital to pretend to have a new fantastic MLM and then start selling spots in the network.
However that does not hide the fact that both Public Franchising and Multi-Level, or Network Marketing can be a fantastic way to make a lot of money in this consumer driven market. From both you get a proven business model, minimal government red tape, and very little paperwork compared to trying to run a solo business.
On the Internet, Network Marketing and Affiliate Marketing flourishes, with even less paperwork, and usually digital products are involved that require no shipping, no handling no warehouses, no shipping returns.
The main difference between Private Franchising (MLM) or Public Franchising?
The capital cost to start- up, (for instance a McDonalds’ needs $300, 000 of non-borrowed up-front costs to get started. And you have a designated territory.
A Network Marketing Business costs anywhere from $50 – $200 to get up and running -and in MLM/Private Franchising there are (usually) no territorial boundaries.
A 17 year old or a 70 year old can get started in network marketing part time and create a sizable income within a few years.
Public Franchising requires capital and a full time commitment, and if you quit – you’re bankrupt.
Private Franchising is usually part time, little or no cost, and if you quit, you just go on with your life (which is why so many quit – no commitment).”
