Tell me the truth – how do you make money on the Internet?
97% of the time that ’something’ is whats called on the Internet an “information product” (see below).
The beauty of an information product is that you only make it once. You can ‘make’ it in an afternoon, an hour even by speaking your ‘information’ into a microphone and recording it. An audio version, mp3. Use a webcam and you have a video version, get some transcribing software, or service and you gave a written version.And no matter how many you sell ( or don’t) you only ever have to make one. If you sell a million downloads. You still have only made one, everything else is a perfect copy, indistinguishable from the original. In fact its exactly like the original. Its digital
And dont forget you can sell all three version, together, or each as their own product. Or sell them now and later give them away as a free bonus to sell another product (worth $97.00 or whatever you charged or originally).
less than 1% of the time you sell a service or a piece of software you have created or bought the rights to that provides a service.
And less than the 1% above you sell Your Services , if you have an existing talent or service to sell (that people will buy). To sell Your service on the crowded hectic Internet, you better be REALLY good at what you do, because there’s hundreds of others out there who are Really REALLY good at what you do.
And less than even 1% you may be selling an actually physical product, as say Amazon does. Unless you have an unbelievably exclusive product, and already have distribution channels set up for shipping and returns and exchanges and complaint. Probably not a good way to start on the Internet.Too much like old wine in new bottle syndrome. The Internet is a great addition to an existing retail selling channel for a physical product. But not the best way to start selling a stand alone physical product.
So is selling.
An information product.
Is how you make money on The Internet.
And the Internet is like a Middle eastern Street bazaar/market. Its hectic, crazy, prices are all over the place and everyone is selling everything all the time. And everything and everyone is clamoring for attention.For a customer its a very noisy place.For a “new’ business person it looks hopeless.
But its not.
This is the Western World, people like and want to buy things. Thats what we do. We spend money. On things. Automatic reflex.
Now like the street market in those far off lands, there are crooks and pick pockets and scam artists of course. Don’t try it. The competion is lethal both from the wise customers and the other scam artists. Its a deadly and hard to stay profitable (or on-line).
The nature of Sales, and continuing to Sell is very simple. You offer value and charge the same or ideally slightly less (value) than you are offering. If you can give more value than you charge, you will build a true customer base and be appreciated by the market place (that is you will be profitable, and liked)
“So what information do I sell” you ask.
Well I know the answer to that, everyone knows the answer to that question
Because that is THE question, and the answer to that question makes you or breaks you in your market.
And here is the answer to that single most vital question.
I dont know. And nor does anyone else.
There are a million programs out there and courses and workshops that tell you “how” to convey the information in the most profitable fashion, once you have the information. But no-one can ‘give’ you the information product that’s going to work for you.Just like no-one could invent Microsoft or Apple for Bill Gates and gang or Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. They had to create it.Themselves.
That’s why you make money. Because you FIND YOUR information piece of the puzzle.
You can write a blog and make it so ‘informative’ or ‘attractive’ to the readership that you can sell advertising to companies that like your readership. Or sell the blog, or sell ‘information’ about how you wrote a successful blog.
You can find a marketplace, small, a Niche, as they say where people want to know how to raise…lets say – ant farms underwater – and because as it happens you know a lot about that – or you run into someone who knows a lot about that, or you pay someone who knows everything about that to write their information for you -then you sell that into your market place.
Or you can try short stories, or cartoons, or porn, or your (non-porn) photographs, or drawing,or…anything. Anything that offers value
Whatever it is, what you are looking for is something that you can offer to a bunch of other people (not 2 not 4 – a bunch – you need profit remember) that they feel is truly valuable. And to them it is truly valuable, even after they have bought it.
That’s all.
“But then How do I find my customers?”
Well the good news is, whatever customer you are looking for, they are here, on the Internet.So now, for you, its juts a matter of looking. But trust me, they’re here. Everyone is here.
100% of all the programs and workshops and course that are sold or given away of the Internet are HOW you sell, or ship, or increase the volume of, or repackage that thing. That thing of value that you have.Listen to them. Some are good some are average, but all have something to teach.Learn.
No-one can tell you what that is. You have to find it, or buy it or in some form Create’ that thing that is conceived of as having value.
And when and if you make money and are constant in your profits, you can if you choose join he thongs and tell/sell the information to others. How you made it work in your particular corner of the Internet. But you cant teach them the ‘product’. That’s why some make money. Some don’t. Some find value. Some don’t. Some refuse to stop until they find that ‘thing’ that gives value. Some quit.
